Past Work

The Pulse series, which I made from 2000-2008, and still dabble with today, was when I first took my abstract organic forms and started stacking them on a steel base and rod, like a totem. To me, connecting my intuitively-made piece parts in this way was like giving them a heartbeat - giving them life as one unit. Each piece connects to the one above and below it, and they work together as whole.

The Wall Gatherings and Kin series, made during the same time frame as the Pulse series, gave my forms the opportunity to have narrative. Placing them together, just so, on a ceramic or metal wall shelf told a story. They are subtle stories of love, friendship, marriage, motherhood and sexuality.

In 2007, I began making what I call Botanical Duets, which I mounted on the wall in a larger installation of several pairings. They are about the give and take relationship between pollinators and plants and within each pairing, my goal is to create a tension between the parts - revealing a symbiotic relationship of some kind.
